For Fun

Was doing this just for fun. Not sure how this is going to translate to the blog, but it sure looks cool on paper - and it was fun and relatively easy!

Oh Christmas Tree.....

Oh Christmas tree, oh Christmas tree, how lovely are your branches.
Took this a few weeks ago after a heavy snow. Looked like a contender for a tree at the White House. Nice and straight and a lovely branch formation. You can double-click on the photo for a bigger image.

Portraits by Me!!

Double-click on each photo to get a bit larger view. Decided to try my hand at more portrait quality photos of the kiddos. Used 3 lamps, w/out their shades, spaced around the area and only tripped over the cord once and blew out 1 light bulb! Not too bad, especially with my coordination!!! And boo hoo! my kids are growing up!!

Jack Frost Visits

We've been iced in this morning. We got about 1/4" of ice last night and into the early morning hours. Bright side is the high is supposed to reach 36-40 degrees - so it shouldn't last long. It sure was pretty though with the heavy fog we had thrown into the mix. Too bad the roads were not passable for me to get some photos around town.

It took forever to get a shot with this starry sparkle on the ornament - but I sure like how it turned out!

Basketball

Basketball is over for the next couple of months. I am thrilled to have a few Saturdays of peace and quiet and not having to get up early to rush out the door. Homemade pancakes might just come back on the Saturday morning menu.
The week has been busy. Last minute shopping and fighting Katie's asthma this week - yes, that is Katie. For some unknown reason her asthma kicked up into high gear this week and is giving us a run for our money. After much discussion with the doctor, we have put her on steroids to try and reduce the swelling in her airway. I really hate putting her on them because she's had them twice this year already - and they make her nutsy-crazy. Which means I'm ready to yank my hair out!
She had her class party Friday and it was Soooooooooo much fun! They even had an indoor snowball fight using white panty hose stuffed with pillow stuffing! That was a blast and something I am going to try making for home! Nobody gets hurt - no matter how hard you through them!!!
I cut my hair today and am once again pretty happy with the results. I got after it a lot more this time since I had more confidence - and it turned out even better. Who knows how it's going to look several months down the road as I get the hang of it! The bright side is - if I mess it up, then I have no one to complain to!
Ah well, the Cowboy game is starting - so must go cheer for them - even if they are most likely going to lose...........

Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

It has just been dog-gone cold here this past week. It's been snowing off and on all week and today we woke up to a sheet of ice. Thrilling. With the cold comes the flu season and of course, if there's a virus running around at Mike's office, he's going to bring it home with him to share. This week was no different. He came down with the flu, even though we all got flu shots, and gave it to us - well, all except Zachary, so far. Bright side is, we got the shots so the flu isn't as severe and doesn't last nearly as long. Down side is, you're still contagious and still get some of the muscle aches/pains and your nose still runs like a faucet. Yuck. Oh well, I came down with it Saturday night and by about 3am this morning, I woke up to the muscle aches/pains being gone. Now THAT's progress you can appreciate!

Katie had her school's Christmas program on Saturday. She looked so pretty and precious up on stage! Of course, Zachary had basketball pictures at the same time, so Mike and Zachary missed the whole thing. That was a bummer - but have video camera, will tape! They got to watch it later. I haven't figured out how to upload video to youtube - so if you know, let me know and I'll upload it to share.

Got home from Katie's program and Mike and Zach had just arrived home. Zach was in his room in DEEP trouble. Apparently he decided that he wanted to hog the ball at the game and stand at mid-court and show off that he had the ball. And while that might be a bit embarrassing for us as parents, he decided to cap it off by ignoring his coach and his father and doing whatever he wanted. WRONG CHOICE!!! Mike was HOT to say the least. Bright side of this is - there were several other kids having the same problems, so it's either something in the air or the excitement of the season, and not just our son being a turkey.

Katie on the other hand has her halo and angel wings out. She has been super sweet and has been flying very low under the radar! You just gotta love how when one child is in trouble, the other instantly becomes an angel and tells you constantly "I love you soooooooo much"! She decided she wants Santa to bring her a baby doll. So she told her dad and he said, "well, you've got to write Santa a letter and tell him". She looked at him like he lost all his marbles and said "daaaaaaaad! I'm only 4! I don't know how to write!". So dad proceeded to tell her that Santa can understand even scribble and to try her best. That little toot proceeded to write the letter above to Santa!!! What an absolute doll! Mike and I about burst out crying! We're such dorks for our kids!
